With a background in architecture and construction management, Mark received his initial training while working at the architectural firm of Caudill Rowlett and Scott (CRS). After several years working in the design department, he left to transfer into the construction management division known as CM, Construction Managers. Working all over the world on massive design/build projects, Mark gained valuable experience and a knowledge of both the drawing board as well as how design is applied in the field. Mark left CRS to join 3D/International and became the regional Vice President, in charge of the southwest 3D/I office located in Phoenix, Az. Mark took his knowledge and experience and applied it to the lighting industry by joining his father in lighting business in 1982. The result was a dynamic new representative firm with a level of experience, enthusiasm and determination necessary to remain a leader of lighting sales in the Houston marketplace for now and many more years to come.
Today, Lighting Associates, Inc. remains one of the top lighting agencies in the Houston market place. With the Thomas/Genlyte package as our product offering anchor, our current line sheet represents a substantial product mix allowing the company to put together strong and complete bid packages, therefore enabling us to increase and balance sales. In addition, we believe in acquiring and maintaining lighting professionals as staff, which is hard to do in this day and time. The average length of employment for an LAI employee is 9.5 years, with the majority being over 14 years. And finally, It has never been our philosophy to be the cheapest price on bid day. Our feeling is one of loyalty to our customers and specifiers while maintaining value added - competitive pricing in the market place. This attitude of doing business has proven over time that as lines may change through acquisitions, and personnel may move from firm to firm, Lighting Associates, Inc. will remain committed to the lighting industry, and continue to grow it's business for both the firm and the lighting companies that we represent.
